Welcome to “Political Rights of EU Citizens”, an innovative online course designed to provide recommendations and best practices to promote the right to vote and stand as candidates in municipal and European Parliament elections.
The goal of this course is to support local authorities, Civil Society Organisations and policymakers who wish to empower EU mobile citizens in voting age to use their voting rights.

EU citizenship gives the right to EU mobile citizens to “vote and to stand in elections to the European Parliament and municipal elections in their Member State of residence, under the same conditions as nationals of that State”.
In this module, we are going to speak about the rights of EU mobile citizens to participate in municipal elections.
Who are these EU mobile citizens? What does the right mean in practice?
