3rd BOLSTER regional policy dialogue

March 15 @ 10:30 - 13:00

Youth and Just Transition – between disengagement and active participation

What?

The BOLSTER project (Bridging Organizations and marginalized communities for Local Sustainability Transitions in EuRope) aims to understand how marginalised communities are affected by European Green Deal (EGD)-related policies and to see whether involving them in decision-making processes increases the support for transition plans.

The project, coordinated by Tilburg University, began in September 2022 and will deliver new scientific evidence on decarbonisation transition strategies and how they intersect with various dimensions of inequality, such as gender, race, age and class. It will conceptualise the principle of leaving no one behind by developing participatory governance models and transition guidelines based on climate justice and gender equality.

In this framework, ECAS and the BOLSTER consortium partners are organising a series of 10 regional policy dialogues focused on the project’s target regions and 3 EU policy dialogues.

When?

The 3rd BOLSTER regional policy dialogue will be held online and in English on Friday, 15th March 2024, from 10:30 to 13.00 CET.

Why?

This policy dialogue will focus primarily on the region of Halle (Saxony-Anhalt, Germany) while also including views from other regions and international perspectives on the just transition. The speakers will share their insights on the perception and the role of young people in relation to the green transition process. The dialogue aims to identify challenges and best practices to support youth engagement with the Just Transition process and to assess the effectiveness of participatory methods for involving youth in decision-making related to environmental issues.
