As Director of ECAS, Assya Kavrakova’s main tasks are to:
- Serve as Chief Executive of ECAS, reporting to the ECAS Board and being responsible for the day-to-day management of all ECAS activities.
- With the chair of the board and the treasurer, enable the Board of Directors to fulfill its governance function, and facilitate the optimum interaction between management and the Board.
- Give direction to the formulation and leadership to the achievement of the organization’s philosophy, mission, strategy, and annual objectives and goals.
Before joining ECAS in 2012, Assya served as the Director of European Policies and the Civic Participation Program at the Open Society Institute (OSI-S) in Sofia, Bulgaria, from 2000 to 2012. At the OSI-S in Sofia, Ms. Kavrakova was also responsible for leading the analytical and research activity of the European Policies Initiative. She personally authored the paper: “The Unfinished Business of the Fifth Enlargement Countries”.
Assya Kavrakova is a German Marshall Memorial Fellow (USA) and a Fellow of the International Fellowship Programme (Brussels).
