In the context of the current migration crisis, European governments continue to decrease their Official Development Assistance (ODA). Yet development aid represents a preventive and strategic tool available to European States for assisting their developing neighbours in achieving peace and stability, and can be considered a preventive tool to reduce migration flows.
What are the consequences for the different countries affected by the migrant crisis, both in the South and in the North? How does European ODA work? And what about member states development aid? How are decisions taken? What citizen opinions can we put forward?
Join us for this participatory debate, and discuss this important topic with local NGOs, European Union Institutions representatives and students from around the globe!
This debate is organised under the U-Impact project – a project launched in April 2015 and implemented by 9 partners which aims at fostering a meaningful debate with policy-makers and at creating mechanisms for turning citizen involvement into effective impact on EU policy.
