“Revitalize, re-think and re-design the European participatory democracy. To make it stronger and fit to handle the world challenges of tomorrow.“
On September 6-7 2019, take part in something unique, constructive and innovative – the Jubel European Democracy Festival 2019! Through workshops, discussions, debate games and more, the festival is looking to identify alternative methodologies to engaging a dialogue with citizens about their concrete concerns and proposals regarding European democracy and the functioning of the European Union.
Taking place in a rather informal setting, where culture intertwines with politics, policy-making and broader understandings of democracy, the festival will aim to arouse the interests of citizens into such usually heavy topics. And fun is definitely the best way to re-engage with disillusioned citizens, most notably the younger ones!
As part of the programme, ECAS, in collaboration with the Representation of the European Commission in Belgium, is organising “The European Citizens Initiative (ECI) as a tool for Democracy” workshop. Through an interactive approach, the workshop will benefit from the experience of ECI experts and ECI organisers who have successfully organised a campaign or are currently in the process of running one.
The workshop will be divided in three distinctive parts, all aimed towards an interactive approach with the audience:
* Interactive quiz
* Panel discussion with ECI organisers who will be sharing their experience
* Debate with the audience and discussion on the topic
