What?
The BOLSTER project (Bridging Organizations and marginalized communities for Local Sustainability Transitions in EuRope) aims to understand how marginalised communities are affected by European Green Deal (EGD)-related policies and to see whether involving them in decision-making processes increases the support for transition plans.
The project, coordinated by Tilburg University, began in September 2022 and will deliver new scientific evidence on decarbonisation transition strategies and how they intersect with various dimensions of inequality, such as gender, race, age and class. It will conceptualise the principle of leaving no one behind by developing participatory governance models and transition guidelines based on climate justice and gender equality.
In this framework, ECAS and the BOLSTER consortium partners are organising a series of 10 regional policy dialogues focused on the project’s target regions and 3 EU policy dialogues.
When?
The 2nd BOLSTER regional policy dialogue will be held online and in English on Friday, 27th October 2023, from 10.00 to 12.00 CEST.
Why?
This policy dialogue will focus primarily on Upper Silesia (Poland) while also including views from other regions experiencing the green transition in Europe. The speakers will share various perspectives on the impact of the green transition on local economic actors and their role in the transition process. We will invite regional policymakers, representatives of NGOs, trade unions, civil society, and academics to discuss challenges and lessons learned in these processes.
