On 12 and 13 October, the Your Europe Advice annual training seminar, organised by ECAS in cooperation with DG Growth, took place in Brussels.
The two-day seminar was preceded by a cocktail party held at ECAS’ premises on the evening of 11 October during which the YEA legal experts had the opportunity to discuss EU rights with two special guests, Beatriz Becerra, MEP and rapporteur of the motion for a European Parliament resolution on the EU Citizenship Report 2017, and Marie-Helene Boulanger, Head of Unit of Union Citizenship and Free Movement at DG Justice.
The seminar was attended by around 60 legal experts from all EU Member States who were trained on the latest legislative updates and developments in EU law and were able to put questions directly to representatives from different Directorates-General of the European Commission.
The main topics and issues discussed this year during the seminar concerned free movement rights and residence documents for EU citizens and their families, social security benefits and healthcare, the state of the Schengen area, the internal market and digital single market, geoblocking and cross-border selling, as well as the VAT system.
