The European Citizen Action Service (ECAS) intends to contribute to eliminating the existing barriers hindering the participation of marginalised and underrepresented communities to ensure their enjoyment of the same rights and opportunities, and their participation in cultural and political life so that they can achieve their full potential.
ECAS has a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Strategic Plan in place to further integrate gender equality and non-discrimination in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the organisation’s action.
The ECAS Strategic Plan for gender equality and non-discrimination is founded on:
Treaty of the European Union – Article 2:
“The Union is founded on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities. These values are common to the Member States in a society in which pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality between women and men prevail.”
EU Charter of Fundamental Rights – Article 21:
“Non-discrimination – forbids discrimination on grounds of sex, race, colour, ethnic or social origin, genetic features, language, religion or other belief, political opinion, membership of a national minority, property, birth, disability, age or sexual orientation.”
