Webinar: Campaigning online for your European citizens’ initiative

The evolving Covid-19 circumstances have made being able to run effective online campaigns all the more important. To support European Citizens’ Initiative organisers in doing so, on June 16th we are holding a webinar on the topic, offering practical guidance, advice and proven successful methods.

Communications and campaigning experts will share their expertise on the subject and provide participants with tips and hints related to the process. The experts will highlight the best practices to follow in order to build an effective communication strategy for a European citizens’ initiative, taking into consideration all the different elements such as social media presence, creating an attracting website and building effective networks.

Speakers’ bio

Olga Kikou, Head of EU Office, Compassion in World Farming. Olga leads the EU activities of Compassion in World Farming, an international organisation with offices and representations in nine European countries, the US, China and South Africa, dedicated to improving farm animal welfare, ending industrial animal agriculture and achieving sustainable food and farming. Having worked in international organisations in the non-profit sector and in research and planning, she has directed her efforts towards raising awareness on the importance of citizen participation. Olga is also a substitute representative of the Citizens’ Committee for the End the Cage Age initiative.

Meike Hartwig, Senior Campaigner, Change.org. Meike is a campaigner for the world’s biggest online petition platform change.org. Before joining change.org she worked for a federal state ministry in Germany. Her academic background is political science, gender studies and peace and conflict studies. She is most interested in democracy, feminism, sustainability and the social dimension of digitalization. At change.org she supports petition starters to successfully campaign.
